A Tear in Heaven

I heard a tear in heaven,
I know I heard it fall,
It fell on the day,
Our savior gave His all.

The angels too they heard it,
And slowly turned in fear,
Just in time to watch,
The Father lose all He held dear.

God He could not watch the earth,
As His only begotten son,
Died for mankind,
To pay the price of sin.

Jesus said it is finished,
With His last earthly breath,
And in the throne room of heaven,
Was no peace or happiness.

The sky it then blackened,
As God turned away,
And man terrified,
Rued his actions that day.

The devil danced with gladness,
His minions too did bound,
Tearing down the curtain,
Throwing it on the ground.

Promises of resurrection,
Would true the testament be found?
Would salvation from heaven,
To earth be sent down.

Would mankind be given?
Grace by God above,
The promised present,
Bought by Jesus with his blood.

Three long days they waited,
Till the sun an empty tomb did kiss,
As at sunrise Jesus rose,
With the promised gift.

Out of love. He gave us,
Salvation bought by His son,
That repentant man,
Again to God may come.

I heard a tear in heaven,
I know I heard it fall,
It fell on the day,
My savior gave His all.

A Father cried in heaven,
Over such a sacrifice,
And on earth mankind,
Realized that Jesus was the Christ.
