Poems in the Night

A Knights Prayer

Out through the windowpane,
The darkness stands alone,
And the black river rolls ever on,
Towards it’s distant home.

Starlight overshadows all,
Mid the clear night sky,
As moonlight shines through the pines,
Standing like weary sentinels uttering a little sigh.

And as I look out in my memory,
I stop to think of you,
And of the gift you gave to me,
The time I spent with you.

And now I will say to the Lord above,
Thank you God for a fellow Christian’s love,
One who shared with me a little of their day,
One I now mention to you as I kneel to pray.

Happiness and honor give to them,
And let them know for sure,
That a fellow Christian prays for them,
On a pine clad distant shore.

We are all disciples of the one true God,
And this simple prayer is offered to our Lord,
King of the universe please look down,
And bless with peaceful sleep that lovely golden crown.
