Front Line
I bow my head to pray,
And thank Him for another day,
We made it through till dark,
And my boots are off at last.
My weary back its tension eases,
Friends around me breathe and relax,
Removing body armor and back packs,
No one we lost this day.
Yes I know tomorrow will come,
And we will leave with the rising sun,
To take charge of our guns,
And danger face again.
I know they think me a fool,
They laugh at me in gilded halls,
Yet I am the one who does not forget,
Those who died were innocent.
No photo op I will seek,
My friend today I will keep,
That he again his loved ones may greet,
And I again with you may sleep.
On and on we must go,
We believe and we tell you so,
Courage I see every day,
Though none at home holds sway.
And thank Him for another day,
We made it through till dark,
And my boots are off at last.
My weary back its tension eases,
Friends around me breathe and relax,
Removing body armor and back packs,
