Thanks

Today like every other day before I leave for work I get on my knees and pray to God. Nothing unusual in that millions do it around the earth. And like millions of other fathers I ask God to bless my children with health and happiness. Nothing unusual about that millions of fathers do the same. And each day I thank God for the blessing it is to have children who love you as you love them. Nothing unusual about that millions do the same.

Tonight I am thinking about a Father who gave up His only begotten son whom He loved for mankind. Very unusual none I know would do the same. Tonight I am thinking about that gift of salvation that His son purchased for mankind by freely and willingly giving up His life. Very unusual none that I know would do the same. I am also trying to imagine the pain and suffering that went before His Resurrection. Very unusual none that I know would do the same.

And then I stop and think about the soldiers and sailors and airmen so far from home this Thanksgiving and I take a moment to ask God to bless them and their families with health and happiness. Unusual that many who claim "God bless America" can't do the same.
